The incident began in Dutchess County around 9 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 21 Pleasant View Road in the town of Poughkeepsie.

Just after 9 a.m., a deputy from the Sheriff’s Office’s Civil Division went to the home of Shawn R. Magliocchino in Poughkeepsie for the purpose of serving an eviction warrant, said Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

When the deputy arrived, Magliocchino displayed a shotgun and refused to cooperate with the service of the warrant, Watterson said.

At that time numerous personnel from the Sheriff’s Office and the town of Poughkeepsie Police responded, including Emergency Services and hostage negotiators, and Magliocchino ultimately surrendered peacefully at approximately 12:20 pm., Watterson said.

At the time of the incident, there was also another family member inside the residence, however, they left peacefully and were unharmed, he added.

At this time Magliocchino has been charged with menacing a police or peace officer, which is a felony.

After being processed he was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

An investigation into the incident is continuing.
